Non Paddy Program

Background

With the development allocation under the 11th Malaysia Plan (RMKe-11), it is expected to contribute to a 20% increase in output from agricultural activities other than paddy (non-paddy), with an estimated added value of approximately RM43 million.
Output from these non-paddy agricultural activities, which also involve livestock, will partly increase the supplementary income of the target groups while supporting downstream agro-based industries.
The benefits of these activities are targeted to local communities in particular, and to the nation’s food supply in general.
It is estimated that 30% of the population within KADA’s area will directly receive assistance from this project.

Objective

  • To increase the production of various types of vegetables, fruits, and livestock products to meet the demand of both local and external markets.
  • To stimulate economic growth and human capital development in the surrounding areas through agricultural activities.
  • To promote socio-economic development in local communities, particularly within KADA’s operational areas.
  • To ensure agricultural areas consistently produce crops and livestock throughout the year.
  • To serve as a catalyst that attracts low-income groups as well as entrepreneurs.
  • To increase domestic agricultural output.
  • To expand the local economy.
  • To help reduce food imports from abroad.
  • To increase the income of local residents.
